Concerning the House
About the Shop
Kin & Keepsake is a small shop with a long memory. We deal in antiques and the honest goods of other ages: things made by hand, made to last, and made well enough to be wanted twice.
We began with a single cabinet of inherited oddments and the conviction that a well-made old thing deserves a second life rather than a landfill. Every piece we offer has been carried home, cleaned, studied, and set down here with its measure, its making, and whatever of its story we could honestly recover.
We describe plainly. A chip is a chip, a repair is a repair, and a charm is a charm. You shall read of all three before you ever part with a coin. When a piece leaves us it is wrapped as though it were our own grandmother’s, and if it does not please you on arrival, your money is returned cheerfully and in full.
What we look for
Character over fashion. We would sooner offer a plain ironstone pitcher with a hundred honest years on it than a showy thing with none. We favour the workaday and the well-loved: the desk that held a lifetime of letters, the chair worn smooth by a thousand sittings, the clock still keeping faithful time.
